Maltese is a small dog that’s playful, bold and gentle. This pint-sized pup can be easily mistaken for a lap dog, but they’re also one of the most spirited and energetic dogs there is. With their vivacious personality and long hair that hangs on either side of their face, maltese are incredibly cute. You’ll love both their looks and personality so much that you won’t want to put them down!
Maltese are playful, gentle and intelligent. They are easy to train and make wonderful companions for children. Maltese are affectionate, loyal and independent. They do not shed hair so they do not need as much grooming as other breeds of dog. Their silky white coats require frequent brushing to prevent tangles and mats from forming in its coat which can cause health problems if left untended for too long.
Because of their small size, a Maltese may be able to live happily in an apartment or condo without a yard but will still need daily walks for exercise and mental stimulation – keeping them healthy both physically and mentally!
The Maltese is a member of the Toy Group, and was one of the first dog breeds to be recognized by The Kennel Club in 1885. It originated on the island nation of Malta, but because it was originally bred as an indoor companion dog, its exact origins are unknown.
The Maltese is thought to have descended from dogs imported from Asia and North Africa when each country was controlled by different civilizations. It also shares characteristics with two extinct breeds: the Griffon Bruxellois (which was also found in Belgium) and another breed called “Canis Melitaeus”.
In regards to its appearance, though, there are few differences between this breed and its ancestors—you can still see traces of North African ancestry in their features today!
Maltese are easy to train and can learn basic commands in a matter of days. They’re also docile, making them good around children.
Maltese are small enough to live comfortably in an apartment, but they’re not too delicate that they need special accommodations. If you don’t have the time or expertise to groom your pet yourself, you can also hire a professional groomer.
Part of being adaptable means that maltese are great for families with kids—they love to play with other animals and people alike!
